Demolition Day!

So we own a house now, but it will be a while before we can move in. Turns out that there is a little foundation problem because the house is so old. One side of the downstairs wall is jutting out, but thankfully it hasn't affected the rest of the house. Another thing is the upstairs living space was badly renovated years ago. The kitchen is cramped, the bathroom is inconveniently located behind a gigantic water heater tank. The washer and dryer room has no ventilation for the dryer and neither does the bathroom. So we have to basically gut tear out and knock out most of the walls in this two story house and redo the electrical wiring, plumbing and install new heating system...the list goes on. I guess we'll just have to take it one day at a time. We have someone who's doing all the actual demolition of the walls. Our first projects are changing the door locks and taking off the old doors and hardwares and try to refinish them. Here are some photos of the progress so far.

Justin changing the lock.

All there is under the nasty red carpet is the base board, we were hoping for hardwood floor.

First meal in the kitchen thanks to the taco truck parked outside of Home Depot.

Taking the antique door fixtures off for refinishing is not an easy job.

Looking forward to taking the thick layer of paint off the plates.

The orange stuff is called Citristrip. It's working slowly...
